Love as an Action

Recently in Burundi, Dr. Alliance was called on to help Bebe Aline. This little one was born with a life-threatening condition, gastroschisis, in which a baby's intestines develop outside the body.

Despite being told there was little hope once Aline was born, the family was referred to Kibuye Hope Hospital. It is there Dr. Alliance has introduced specialized care for babies with this condition, although survival still remains challenging.

As she fought for her life, her grandmother came to the hospital each day to pray, and she watched as the staff cared for her granddaughter with compassion, skill and unwavering faith. It was through this care that Aline’s grandmother saw the love of Christ in action.

Bebe Aline defied the odds and survived. Her grandmother saw this as a testament that nothing is impossible for God and she gave her life to Jesus.

As a result of this specialized care Dr. Alliance has introduced in his years at Kibuye Hope Hospital, other hospitals are now referring these fragile newborns, providing a chance at life that they may not have been given otherwise.

We’re grateful to work with specialists like Dr. Alliance who are dedicating their lives to improving surgical care in these hard-to-reach locations.
